What to bring when going to a meet:

Swimmers:

EAT a good breakfast prior to leaving for your meet. Waffles, pancakes, bagels always a good choice. Eat about an hour before.
Your team suit - an extra navy suit just in case.
2 towels - and if you have a sammy those are even better. Use that first to dry off then it will save on your towels. Those will get wet quick!!
2 pairs of goggles. You just never know when one will break. Make sure both are fit for you as well.
2 caps. You won't need both of them to be the team one. But, just in case you never know. Yours could rip while putting it on.
Black Sharpie - to write your E/H/L on your body - so you know what you are swimming.
Healthy snacks and drinks. Carrots, crackers, fruit,
There is plenty of down time between events. Think about also bringing.... books, ipods, travel games, etc., share with your fellow swimmers. This is when you'll get to know your fellow swimmer. Unlike practice when you swim the whole time.
A good attitude: That's right always, always, always have a good attitude. It's you and the clock no one else. Swim Strong Swim Fast

Parents:

Black Sharpie - Extra is always good!
Money for Heat Sheet - Most will run anywhere from $2-$6.
If you are going to any other pool besides UT you will need to bring chairs. Some facilities are rather small. And seating is really limited so extra chairs are always a plus.
Tylenol or Motrin. YES, you will need it after a long morning or afternoon at the pool.
Reading material: newspaper, books, etc.
IPOD, Laptop etc. Really you don't want to be bored in between your child's events either. Bring something for you to do.
More Money: There most likely will be a concession and a swim vendor. Please try and keep your swimmer away from non-healthy items from the concession.
A good attitude: Your child has worked hard for their meet. Encourage them regardless of their times. It's them against the clock. And all of us can have a bad day sometimes. A pat on the back goes a long way.
